Thought I'd create a thread especially for this particular subject. People can discuss and update it as we go and as Emma's career progresses, for better or worse.

Thanks to @guichard for this link below regarding the live rankings. This will give you a live update as each tournament progresses.

Please find below the WTA Official Top 15 rankings week commencing 25th April 2022. Emma is currently a career high of 11th as of this date.

Ok seeding situation for Beijing. With Saba out that puts Zheng into seed 8 so fingers crossed for a good R3 draw this time. Also I assume since Lena is seed 9, Emma can't draw her R3?

i think more important is emma gets her back to full fitness, not rotating torso on ground strokes she will get pummelled by everyone in top 10, but fully healthy she will be competative. Massive difference.

Back happened in strasburg and took a while to clear, and it happened against Jaq in Seoul and it was clear emma was struggling yesterday on GS

It is very likely Emma will finish in top 32 this year. she has no points to defend and
To get in top 24 Emma needs to gain 300-400points. She is registered to 4 more tournaments:
Beijing is 96 draw W1000: 65 points 1 win (R32), 120 points 2 wins (R16), 215 points 3 wins (QF)
Wuhan is 56 draw W1000: 120 points for 1 win (R16), 215 points 2 wins (QF)
Nigbo and Toray are W500: 60 points for 1 win (R16), 108 points 2 wins (QF), 195 points 3 wins (SF)
Emma has already played 19 tournaments this year (seriously, 19?) so WTA already took out Singapore (1 point) to . The next tournaments to go will be Abu Dhabi (1 point each), Qatar (10 points), Eastborne (30 points) and Strasbourg (60 points) so 101 points.
Emma must to reach R16 in both W1000s and QF in both W500s. If she goes one round further in one and stops one round earlier in another, she gets more points (for example 60+ 195 > 2 x 108 ). A deep run in one of them, could be enough.

Is seems doable provided that Emma stays healthy and has decent draws.

The current " LIVE" rankings according to live-tennis.eu (Which I use) has Emma at #30 with 1498 pts.
The two players above her are Yastremska & Kenin with 1544 & 1599 pts respectively after losing points.

This is as of Monday afternoon before a ball has been hit in the Beijing MD.

the points above are the points earned so far towards year end rankings includes ITf which race rankings do not
its a tight race to the end.
two groups
one Mboko to Badosa for 19 to 25 position
and another Kostyuk to Joint for 26 to 31
Vondrousova is injured I think
and then Kessler to Kalinskaya who injured her ankle.
anyways its all close and any bit of a run will change things
It will be fun to follow.
Who wants to guess where every one will end up?

It would be interesting to see a race/ranking table from Miami onwards. That would give us her ‘current’ ranking.

As others have said, she’s virtually nothing to defend till then. I think once she can break into the top 24, she’ll be free of the top seeds in early rounds - would be meeting them in 4th round.

Winning one more match per tournament would double her points Going forward.
