Emma's not entered St Petersburg or Dubai, and mentioned in her press conference she is likely to play either in the Middle East or Mexico. Two obvious options about where she might be going, but both mean she won't play for at least 3 weeks (unless she gets a WC into St Petersburg):

1. Go back to Dubai for training, get a WC into Dubai and then play Qatar mandatory before Indian Wells

2. Go to the US for training (maybe IMG academy in Miami), and then play both Mexico 250s before Indian Wells

Another option is she goes back to the UK for training and then onto Mexico but seems like that would create more jet lag.

From Torbens IG it looks like he has two daughters, who are presumably in Germany - not sure if he constantly travelled with Donna before? Might make UK or Miami more likely as there will be other coaches there..

Looks like it could be another month before she plays, but hopefully she can get a solid training block in.

Osaka, Jovic and Sun are already confirmed for Auckland, all eyes on the names of offer acceptance over the next month. Little doubt Emma would be among the preferred recruits.

Am I right in saying that Auckland are allowed 1 top 10 player.
Yeah with the caveat a defending champ can return without impacting the qutoa so it's possible in Tauson's case.

I thought this was a near certainty for Emma given the HSBC connection, pleased to see it. There are three 250s that week, the others in Nanchang and Chennai, and I suspect HK will be the strongest of the three.
It doesn't look that strong so far, actually. I mean, it's quite good for a 250, but not that strong on paper, by ranking.

Wow. She plays every single week of the Asian swing. It also means she is physically fit and mentally okay if she confirmed coming after today’s match. I hope she gives all she can as I still believe she can win a title in coming weeks. While that would be my hope, I understand that more importantly (as per her coach), she finishes the season well inside top 25 to be sure about the AO seeding. Though honestly she could even go for top 15-20 finish, points-wise is still very much possible.

I imagine players like Boulter, Fernandez etc will play. They have before.

Isn't HK now sponsored by Prudential?
Yes, but with HK as a territory being so important to Emma's principal sponsor I thought Emma would put in an appearance anyway. WTA rules protect Emma from having to promote Prudential at events, meet & greets etc if there would be a direct conflict with the HSBC deal.

Well, if she is keen to play as much as possible, then of the events that week, HK sounds like the best one to attend in terms of infrastructure, tourism interest, medical professional availability, etc. she might also personal friends there that she wouldn’t have at the other two Asian events, given the closeness of UK and HK.

she just wanna be sponsored by prudential 😆 😆 joking aside, ending her season at hk is a perfect scenario, she likes hk and she can probably have a hit with her long-time tennis idol Li Na there.

I think winning a tournament would be good for Emma psychologically.

If she is in a position to win a bigger tournament, then the memory of a recent tournament victory at a lower level will be helpful.
She won a slam. I really don’t think winning a 250 bothers her
I wonder if Priscilla Hon will try and persuade her BFF Amanda to play this one, if she is eligible.
Why would she
